6 RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

6.1 RESULTS
6.1.1 SHALLOW SOIL RESULTS
The eight (8) shallow soil locations were chosen to assess possible impacts to areas identified in
the Phase I assessment completed by Kleinfelder. The eight areas identified were: the vehicle
parking area (B-2), depression near the east end of the site (B-3 and B-4), two former AST areas
(B-5 and B-7), former tank washout area (B-1 and B-8), and the residential leach field (B-6).
The shallow soil samples collected from the 8 locations on the site were analyzed as detailed in
Section 5 of this report. Refer to Tables 2 and 2-1 for a complete listing of the analytes and
results.
The following table only outlines the detected concentrations of analytes from the shallow soil
borings advanced throughout the site. The following detections were made in the analysis for
pesticides and carbamates.
Select Soil Results (Shallow Soil Borings)
Sample
Location and
Depth
Analyte Concentration (mg/kg)
4,4-DDD 4,4-DDE 4,4-DDT DieIdrin Oryzalin
PRG (mg/kg) 2.4 1.7 1.7 0.03 3.1E+06
B-1-1' ND<0.005 0.008 0.017 ND<0.005 .028
B-2-1' ND<0.005 0.006 ND<0.005 0.008 .028
B-3-1' ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.02
B-4-1' ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.02
B-5-1' ND<0.005 0.009 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.02
B-6-1' ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.005 ND<0.02
B-7-3' 0.028 0.21 0.39 ND<0.005 ND<0.02
B-8-3' ND<0.005 0.008 0.034 ND<0.005 ND<0 02
ND = Analyte not detected at or above the laboratory reporting limit.
There were no detected concentrations of organophosphates, fumigants, chlorinated hydrocarbons,
VOCs, SVOCs, THP-d, TPH-g, or chlorinated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons in any of the
soil samples collected for the applicable analyses from borings B-1 through B-8.
All of the metals concentrations detected in each of the shallow soil samples analyzed were below
the PRGs with the exception of arsenic. The concentration of arsenic seen in each of the soil
samples exceeded the residential PRG cancer end point (0.39 mg/kg) but did not exceed the non-
cancer end point (22 mg/kg). Each of the soil samples collected from the shallow soil borings
appear to display typical background concentrations seen within California for the metals included
27125.E0I STO4R181
© 2004 Kleinfelder, Inc.
