I. in this assessment. All of the detected metals concentrations (including arsenic) were below the
average values for the listed metals found in soil for California. The background concentrations
were referenced from Bradford et. all, "Background Concentrations of Trace and Major Elements
in California Soils", Kearney Foundation Special Report, UC Riverside and Cal-EPA DTSC,
March 1996. Please refer to Table 2 for a complete listing of the metals included for analyses and
the respective results.
The analyses of the soil samples analyzed for the fertilizer constituents ammonia as N, nitrate as
N, TKN, nitrate+nitrite, total nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfate showed the following results.
Select Soil Results (Shallow Soil Borings)
Aualvte Concentrations (mg/kg)
Sample
Location and
Depth
Ammonia
as N
Nitrate-as
NO 3
Nitrate + nitrite TKN Phosphate Total
Nitrogen Sulfate
PRG (mg/kg) NA NA NA NA NA NA NA
B-1-1' 49 80 18 500 500 183 80
B-2-1' 38 31 7 300 300 78 10
B-3-1' 2.4 7 . 2 300 300 71 ND<10
B-4-1' 1.6 ND<100 ND<1 100 100 49 ND<10
B-5-1' 1.6 8 2 200 200 130 20
B-6-1' 1.6 ND<100 ND<1 ND<100 ND<100 22 ND<10
B-7-3' 3.5 226 51 3600 3700 28 30
B-8-3' 2.4 466 105 500 600 109 30
ND = Not detected at or above the laboratory reporting limit.
NA = PRG not applicable to analyte.
6.1.2 MONITORING WELL SOILS RESULTS
The following table outlines the detected concentrations of select constituents noted from the soil
samples submitted for laboratory analyses from the monitoring well borings.
