I. The water sample collected from the domestic well on site showed no detectable concentrations
of ammonia as N, TKN, and phosphate. However, the detected concentrations of nitrate as NO3
and total nitrogen pose a risk due to the elevated concentrations seen in the sample.
Additionally, 1,2-Dichloropropane was detected with a concentration above the MCL. We
recommend that the domestic water supply well be used in a limited capacity to limit exposure by
ingestion due to the high nitrate and 1,2-Dichloropropane concentrations detected. Bottled-water or
an alternate water supply should be used for drinking and/or cooking purposes. 1,2-
Dichloropropane can be filtered with an activated carbon system and should be employed.
The detection of EDB found in MW-2 shows a low concentration below the PMCL for EDB. No
other detections of EDB were made in any of the other groundwater samples collected from the site.
Kleinfelder recommends that limited investigative steps be taken at the suspect area at Anomaly A
noted in the geophysical survey to ascertain the presence or absence of an UST. If a UST is
discovered in that location proper methods and protocols should be followed in accordance with
State and Local regulations governing the removal and proper abandonment of the UST.
This report should be forwarded to the State RWQCB and San Joaquin County EHD for their
review and comment.
This report is subject to the "Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report. Any other party
other than The Schmiedt Family Trust who would like to use this report shall notify Kleinfelder,
Inc. of such intended use in writing.
I.
27125.E01 / STO4R181

C) 2004 Kleinfelder, Inc.
