AdvancedGeo
Environmental
W•g.
10 April 2017
AGE-NC Project No. 12-2169
Page 3 of 6
Soil-vapor samples will be collected from borings SVI-1 and SVI-2 at depths of
approximately 5 to 61/2 feet below surface grade (bsg) as depicted in Figure 3. Field
procedures for advancement of soil borings, collection of soil sample, installation of soil-
vapor sampling points and collection of soil-vapor samples are presented in Section 3.1.1.
Soil-vapor samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Public Health
Services (CDPH)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with
EPA Methods TO-15, respectively;
Volatile aromatic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes: BTEX) in
accordance with EPA Method TO-15;
Naphthalene and isopropyl alcohol in accordance with EPA Method TO-15;
Oxygen (as a percentage) in accordance with Modified ASTM D-1946.
Laboratory reports for the soil-vapor analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation
will be presented in a report with findings and recommendations.
2.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Results of the soil-vapor intrusion investigation will be presented in a report of findings.
The report will be in a format acceptable to the CRWQCB (Appendix A - Reports, Tr-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of
Underground Storage Tank Sites and the Low Threat Closure Policy), and will be
reviewed and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
3.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of
a California Professional Geologist. Procedures for soil boring advancement, soil
evaluation, soil-vapor probe construction and soil-vapor sample collection procedures are
described below.
3.1. DRILLING ACTIVITIES
The following procedures will be performed prior to any digging/drilling activities:
Prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety
and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities - Prepared by
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Occupational Safety and
