AdvancedGeo
Environmental
'Ogg.
10 April 2017
AGE-NC Project No. 12-2169
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Due to petroleum-impacted soil documented at the site during the UST removal and
previous soil drilling activities, the threat of potential soil-vapor intrusion into the building
must be investigated. Therefore, AGE is proposing to drill and sample two soil-vapor
borings (SVI-1 and SVI-2) to characterize the potential soil-vapor intrusion to site
buildings. The proposed boring locations for SVI-1 and SVI-2 are located to assess soil-
vapor near the southern side of the commercial store front building and the eastern side
of the auto repair building, where the UST was formerly located. Drilling and field activities
will consist of the following tasks:
Permitting and pre-field work activities,
Drilling of soil borings and collection of soil-vapor samples,
Preparation of report of findings.
Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable drilling permits will be submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (EHD. As required by EHD permitting, a health and safety plan will be
prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for
Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency). Prior to
drilling activities, each proposed drilling location will be clearly marked and a utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
AGE proposes to drill two (2) shallow, soil borings (SVI-1 and SVI-2) at the site as part of
a soil-vapor investigation and to evaluate potential vapor intrusion. Proposed soil boring
locations are illustrated on Figure 2.
Based upon laboratory results of soil samples collected during the investigation, AGE
proposes the soil boring locations in the following areas:
Soil boring SVI-1 will be located adjacent the southeast edge of the commercial
building north of the eastern most former UST area.
Soil boring SVI-2 will be located near the middle of the eastern side of the auto
repair building, edge of former UST area, and approximately 5 feet east of the site
building structure.
