Air Sparging Pilot Test Related Activities Report and Remedial Action Work Plan
Former Countryside Market, Stockton, California April 30, 2015
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (CRWQCB) and the Department
of General Services (DGS), The Source Group, Inc. (SGI) has prepared this Air Sparging Pilot Test
Related Activities Report and Remedial Action Work Plan (Report) for the Former Countryside
Market located at 10848 Copperopolis Road, Stockton, California, referred to as Emergency
Abandonment and Recalcitrant (EAR) Site No. R10-129 (Site, Figure 1). This Report has been
completed to detail well installation activities for air sparging (AS) feasibility test, AS results, and
propose a final remedial action plan (RAP) that will best cleanup petroleum hydrocarbons within
the former underground storage tank (UST) area. Well installation and pilot testing activities were
completed as proposed in SGI's Feasibility Study and Interim Remedial Action Plan (IRAP) (SGI,
2013c), which was approved by the CRWQCB in correspondence dated January 22, 2014
(Appendix A). The proposed remedial approach and design presented in this Report is generally
consistent with the strategy presented in the IRAP, which also included a conceptual site model, an
evaluation of remedial technologies, and proposed feasibility testing. A summary of field activities,
test results, and remedial action work plan is presented in the following sections.
The scope of work included:
Pre-mobilization activities including procurement and contracting, agency coordination,
permitting, and utility clearances;
Installation of one observation well, one vapor well and two AS test wells, including soil
sampling and well development;
Completion of two separate AS pilot tests over two days, which included groundwater and
soil vapor sampling;
Evaluation of test data, and preparation of this summary/pilot test report; and,
Engineering evaluation and preparation of recommended remedial well construction and
well layout.
1.1 Report Organization
The remainder of this document is organized into the following sections:
Section 2.0: Background and Physical Setting
This section presents a summary of the Site setting, including a brief description of the local
hydrogeologic conditions and previous investigation activities.
Section 3.0: Well Installation Activities
This section presents a summary of well installation activities at the Site, including pre-mobilization
activities, soil sampling and analytical results.
1-1 The Source Group, Inc.
