31 January 2013
AGE-NC Project No. 02-0926
all utility infrastructure has been installed at the site.
As part of field activities an update to the health and safety plan presently on-file will be
prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for
Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985). Prior
to mobilization, all underground boring areas will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
will be obtained through Underground Service Alert.
10.2. INSTALLATION OF REMEDIAL WELLS
AGE proposes installation of one SVE and two additional shallow zone air-sparging wells.
Remedial wells are proposed in the following locations:
One four 4-inch diameter SVE well screened between 10 feet and 35 feet bsg is
proposed south of MW-6 to enhance sparged vapor recovery;
One two-inch diameter air sparging well screened 50 feet to 55 feet is proposed
slightly west of proposed vapor recovery well MW-5 to expedite remediation of
dissolved impact near the currently installed well location and in an area of known
highly concentrated dissolved and adsorbed impact; and
One two-inch diameter air sparging well screened 50 to 55 feet is proposed slightly
southwest of proposed vapor recovery well VW-1 to expedite remediation of
dissolved impact near the currently installed well location and in an area of known
highly concentrated dissolved and adsorbed impact.
All proposed and existing remediation wells are shown in Figure 13. Diagrams detailing the
well construction details are included as Figures 14 and 15. All proposed wells will likely
be installed utilizing a limited access drilling rig equipped with 8-and 10-diameter augers.
10.3. INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL REMEDIAL SYSTEM PIPING
Additional remediation system piping will be installed above ground from proposed
remedial wells to the SVE and air-sparging system. One-inch diameter schedule 80 PVC
piping will be routed from the on-site air compressor to the proposed air-sparging wells.
Additionally, two-inch diameter PVC piping would be used to tie-in the proposed vapor
extraction well to the currently installed SVE piping network. All above ground piping will
be secured by the on-site fencing enclosure.
Advanced GeoEn‘ ironmental, Inc.
