Refer to the Site Map in Figure 2 for
well locations. Also, for your convenience, find attached select file documents regarding the
site closure issued in 1996, cross sections and summary data tables of soil and groundwater
analysis.
Well Destruction
The wells proposed for destruction are listed in the attached table along with the relevant
grout volume calculations for the well casing and the filter pack. The wells will be destroyed
by pressure grouting methods.
This work will be entirely on private property, so a Traffic Control plan for the City of Ripon
is not needed.
The pressure grouting process will be conducted as follows:
A total depth measurement will be taken at each well prior to destruction to ensure no
obstructions are present within the well casing.
A neat cement grout (containing less than 4% bentonite) will be pumped under
pressure through a tremie pipe to the bottom of the well. In this manner, the grout
will displace the water in the well ensuring that it is completely filled with grout.
After the grout has been filled to the top of the well, a pressure cap will be fitted to
the casing and the well pressurized to 25 psi for at least five minutes.
