11 March 2014
AGE Project No. 96-0236
Page 27 of 32
injection wells. Soil borings will be advanced using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped
with 8.25-inch hollow-stem augers. The total depth of each well boring may vary
according to geologic/hydrogeologic conditions encountered during drilling. Soil
samples will be collected from selected pilot borings at selected depths. Injection well
locations are as follows:
Five shallow and three intermediate wells are proposed to be advanced within
the facility building in areas of significant adsorbed and dissolved hydrocarbon
impact;
One intermediate well will be advanced adjacent to DPE-1 to facilitate
remediation of the intermediate soils and groundwater near the former tank pit;
One shallow and one intermediate well will be advanced west of the MW-9/17/18
well cluster to remediate downgradient adsorbed and dissolved hydrocarbon
impact;
Two shallow and one intermediate well will be advanced north of MW-4 behind
the site building to remediate downgradient hydrocarbon impact to soil and
groundwater; and
Two shallow and one intermediate well will be advanced east and northeast of
the MW-4/15/16 well cluster to remediate the downgradient source area of the
adsorbed and dissolved hydrocarbon plume.
The proposed injection well (shallow and intermediate) locations are illustrated in
Figure 20.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed to complete any data gaps or where unknown
degradation of concentration are suspected from past pilot testing, utilizing a State of
California Department of Public Health (CDPH)-certified laboratory for the following
constituents:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and
TPH-d) in accordance with EPA Method 8015M; and
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and fuel additives
methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether
(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-
dibronnoethane (EDB), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with
EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports of soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented
in a report of findings and recommendations.
.4dvanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
