Steward Road
Lathrop, CA 95330
Subject: River Islands Stage 2B — Monitoring Well MWR-8
Lathrop, California
WORK PLAN FOR WELL ABANDONMENT
Dear Ms. Dell'Osso:
As requested, ENGEO has prepared this work plan for monitoring well abandonment at the subject
site, located within Stage 2B of the River Islands Project in Lathrop, California.
The well to be abandoned is identified as MWR-8. The well was installed in 1999 by others for the
purpose of monitoring groundwater levels at the site. The well is included in the City of Lathrop
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) Waste Discharge and Master
Reclamation Permit (Order No. R5-2006-0094) for water level reporting only. It is our understanding
that the well is in an area planned for new construction.
We understand that the RWQCB Waste Discharge to Land Unit has been contacted, and will
authorize the removal of this well from the monitoring network prior to well abandonment. The work
plan is also being submitted to the City of Lathrop, San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department and the RWQCB for their review.
The subject well is to be destroyed and abandoned in accordance with San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department requirements. The work scope described below will be performed
in general accordance with the City of Lathrop Master Groundwater Well Installation and/or
Destruction Work Plan Permit No. R5-2206-0094.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The subject well is located north of Cohen Road in western Lathrop on the parcel identified as APN
213-23-006.
The well casing is 2-inch-diameter PVC and is screened approximately from 10 to 20 feet below the
ground surface (bgs). The top of the well is protected by a metal standpipe and is encased in concrete
at the ground surface.
San Joaquin County records indicate that groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the site has no
known contamination.
17278 Golden Valley Parkway • Lathrop, CA 95330 • (209) 835-0610 • Fax (888) 279-2698
www.engeo.com
