River Islands Development LLC
River Islands Stage 2B — Monitoring Well MWR-8
WORK PLAN FOR WELL ABANDONMENT
5044.411.104
July 10, 2017
Page 2
SCOPE OF SERVICES
The well destruction will include completely overdrilling the well to remove existing well materials
and tremie backfilling the hole with neat cement, under the observation of a San Joaquin County
Environmental Health representative.
We will coordinate with a licensed drilling contractor to overdrill the well to a depth of
approximately 20 feet bgs, or the bottom of the previous borings, whichever is deeper. Drilling will
be accomplished using a truck-mounted hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with 8-inch-diameter
augers in order to remove the annular seal around the well. Given that the subsurface material is
not suspected to be contaminated, drilling cuttings will be discharged on the ground surface near
the well.
Once the well has been adequately removed, the borehole will be grouted with neat cement by
the tremie method to approximately 5 feet bgs. Hydrated bentonite pellets will be placed in the
remaining five feet to the ground surface.
We plan to complete the well destruction by July 21, 2017, pending approval of this work plan.
In addition, it is our understanding that a replacement well will be constructed within Phase 1 of
the River Islands Development. The specific location and specifications for the well will be
provided at a future time.
If you have any questions on any portion of this work plan, please call and we will be glad to
discuss them with you.
Sincerely,
ENGEO Incorporated
Ana Lua
Z Crawford, CEG
49
Q 1-1-J -rr:C
(_) 11
o
.:Ho
...00.11111110,
\-\\( DRO
Zsr
No. HG 413
c A \-\
,\G\NEER/
0 A.
