Type II Work Plan - Addendum
UXO Construction Activities and Soil Removal Action
Preliminary Assessment/Site Investigation Update
California Army National Guard Facility
Stockton, California
Contract No. GS-00E-007LrFask Order W91238-05-F-0084
Version 2.0
3.0 SAMPLE TYPES
The sampling team will take samples on two occasions; during pre-characterization, and
subsequent to excavation. Pre-characterization sampling is more rigorous than
confirmation sampling, and is intended to identify any potential contaminants.
Confirmation sampling will focus on the likely contaminants, and any detections
identified during pre-characterization. Pre-characterization analytes and analytical
methods are summarized in Table 1. Confirmation analytes and analytical methods are
summarized in Table 2.
Table 1
Pre-characterization Sampling
Analyte Method
Volatile Organic Compounds SW8260B
Semivolatile Organic Compounds SW8270
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) SW8082
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (C6-C40) SW8015M
CAM 17 Metals Various
Table 2
Confirmation Sam lin
Analyte Method
Volatile Organic Compounds SW8260B
Semivolatile Organic Compounds SW8270
Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) SW8082
Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (C6-C40) SW8015M
CAM 17 Metals Various
Analyses for any soil to be taken to an offsite disposal facility shall be coordinated with
the Contracting Officer and conform to local, state, and federal criteria. All solid samples
will be reported on dry weight basis and percent solids or percent moisture shall be
reported.
At the request of the CVRWQCB, Versar will perform background sampling for arsenic
during the pre-characterization field effort.
