Boring Permit Application <br />TRACY HILLS SITE — PROPOSED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL <br />WKA No. 10137.04P <br />February 22, 2018 <br />Page 3 <br />placed inside the drill rods to depths of five feet bgs and 10 feet bgs. Soil will be screened in <br />the field using visual and olfactory observations for indications of petroleum hydrocarbon <br />contamination. A PID will be used to screen soil cuttings for volatile petroleum hydrocarbons. <br />Soil samples collected during installation of the soil gas sampling probes may be submitted to <br />the analytical laboratory for chemical analyses if field observations and/or field monitoring <br />instrumentation indicate possible soil contamination. <br />Soil Gas Sampling Probe Installation <br />The soil borings will be converted into 5-foot and 10-foot deep nested soil gas sampling probes <br />(see attached Figure 6). Each soil boring will be converted into a temporary soil gas sampling <br />probe using the methods below. <br />5-foot Deep Soil Gas Sampling Probes <br />Install a 1-inch stainless steel implant with a 50-micron filtration rating <br />attached to a 1/4 inch diameter Teflon tubing into each of the 5 foot deep <br />borings at 4.5 feet bgs <br />The stainless steel implant will be centered within a 1-foot long sand filter <br />pack composed of #2/12 clean sand <br />A 4-foot long transitional seal composed of dry granular bentonite will be <br />installed above the deep sand filter pack and hydrated for at least 2 hours <br />prior to installation of the second sand filter pack <br />A surface seal of hydrated powdered bentonite will be installed to surface <br />grade <br />A traffic grade flush mount well box will be installed at the surface for each <br />boring <br />10-foot Deep Soil Gas Sampling Probes <br />Install a 1-inch stainless steel implant with a 50-micron filtration rating attached to <br />a 1/4 inch diameter Teflon tubing into each of the 10 foot deep borings at 9.5 feet <br />bgs <br />The stainless steel implant will be centered within a 1-foot long sand filter pack <br />composed of #2 /12 clean sand <br />A 4-foot long transitional seal composed of dry granular bentonite will be installed <br />above the deep sand filter pack and hydrated for at least two hours prior to <br />installation of the second sand filter pack
