February 28, 2018
Project No. 2154-1817-01
Ms. Vera Fischer, P.G., RWQCB
Work Plan for Additional Site Assessment
1817 South Fresno Avenue, Stockton, CA
Page 4
Data from the November 2017 subsurface investigation prompted, in part, for the
RWQCB and the USTCF to request this Work Plan.
The approximate extent of GRO and benzene to groundwater is presented in cross
sectional view, on Figures 7 and 8, respectively. Figures 7 and 8 also include a
geologic cross section that illustrate subsurface conditions oriented in a west-
northwest to east-southeast direction (in the direction of groundwater flow and
predominant plume transport).
SCOPE OF WORK
The objectives of the proposed scope of work are to:
Further assess the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact to
groundwater.
Additionally, characterize geologic conditions (subsurface strata) at the Site, in
particular below approximately 60 feet bgs.
To accomplish these objectives, Stratus is proposing the following work activities:
Advance one (1) cone penetrometer test boring (CPT-2) to approximately 90 feet
bgs for profiling of soil lithologies.
Collect depth discrete groundwater samples from separate borings (CPT-1
through CPT-3) at approximately 60 and 90 feet bgs.
The proposed scope of work has been subdivided into four tasks, as outlined below. All
work will be conducted under the direct supervision of a State of California Professional
Geologist or Professional Engineer, and will be conducted in accordance with standards
established by the December 2015 Leaking Underground Storage Tank Guidance
Manual issued by the State Water Resources Control Board. Proposed CPT boring /
sampling boring locations are shown on Figure 4.
Task 1: Pre-Field Activities
Following approval of this Work Plan by the RWQCB, the following activities will be
completed:
Obtain an encroachment permit and a revocable permit from the City of Stockton,
Obtain a drilling permit from SJCEHD,
Retain and schedule a licensed C-57 CPT/drilling contractor,
Update the Health and Safety Plan for the Site,
KABames Trucking\Work Planaames trucking cpt work plan 2018.doc STRATUS
