LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF WINTER DISPOSAL SITE
This Winterization Plan will span the winter season of 2000-2001, where operations will begin in
the fall and extend through the winter of the following year. The approximate area to receive
waste during this time is shown on the attached map. The amount of waste estimated to be
landfilled, 60,000 tons, is based upon recent average waste quantities. The winter seasonal
duration period is estimated to be six months (November-April).
The area to receive fill, excluding the winter pad, will cover approximately five acres. During the
six month period, about 120,000 cubic yards of space will be utilized by compacting refuse in the
area shown. This volume assumes 1,000 pounds of waste in-place per cubic yard.
U. WINTERIZATION PAD AND ACCESS ROAD
The County has constructed an all-weather winterization pad and access roadway. The pad is
located within the limits of Module 3, and waste will be pushed westward across the module.
The access road and winter pad were constructed of compacted wood and crushed concrete over
a foundation of compacted soil. The access road, approximately thirty feet in width at a grade of
approximately three percent, will be constructed with crushed concrete to provide an all-weather
surface. Last year's winter pad is being kept in the event that waste quantities and weather
require a larger area to be filled than originally planned.
