Box 1810 <br /> Stockton, California 95201 <br /> REVIEW OF THIRD QUARTER 2000 GROUND WATER AND SURFACE WATER <br /> MONITORYNGREPORTFOR NORTH COUNTYRECYCLING CENTER AND SAAIT4RY <br /> LANDFILL,SA, JOA QUINCOUNTY(Case File No.3161) <br /> Regional Board staff has reviewed the following reports for the North County Recycling Center and <br /> Sanitary Landfill: <br /> • North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill, Third Quarter 2000, Groundwater <br /> and Surface Water Monitoring Report, dated 15 October 2000. <br /> Staff has the following comments: <br /> 1. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) were detected in all wells this quarter. Toluene was <br /> detected in well G-1 and G-5. Toluene was also detected in BLK 2 (sampled 8/17/00). Field <br /> Blank(sampled 8/16/00) contained Chloroform, Methylene Chloride and had detects of <br /> Acetone, Bromodichloromethane,Naphthalene, Toluene and Trichloroethene (TCE). <br /> 2. MtBE, Toluene, and Heptachlor were detected in well G-5. The estimated value of <br /> Heptachlor, 0.0278 µg/1, exceeds the California Department of Health Services Primary <br /> Maximum Contaminant Limit(MCL) of 0.01 ug/l and the California Public Health Goal <br /> (PHG) in Drinking Water of 0.008 µg/l. Well G-5 should be retested immediately for all <br /> Constituents of Concern(CDCs). Results of the retest should be submitted to the Regional <br /> Board no later than 15 January 2001. The retest may be included in the Fourth Quarter and <br /> Annual Report for 2000. <br /> 3. Freon 113, 1,2,3-Trichlorbenzene and Naphthalene detected in well G-4. Well G-4 retest <br /> (sampled 9/21/00)yielded non-detects for all VOCs. <br /> 4. The location of monitoring well G-5 was not provided on the Groundwater Contour and <br /> Sampling Location map. Please submit a revised Groundwater Contour and Sampling <br /> Locations Map with the surveyed.location of G-5, and a well completion diagram with field <br /> boring log,no later than 15 January 2001. <br /> 5. The field pH of water from G-313 was 8.31.
