San Joaquin County Project Description
refuse transfer vehicles now delivering refuse directly to the NCRC&SL would
instead deliver their loads to the FSL. If refuse transfer facilities are retained at
the NCRC&SL,commercial and self-haul vehicles would continue to be
received, and the refuse would be transferred to the FSL in County transfer
vehicles.
If refuse transfer facilities are not retained at the NCRC&SL,then all vehicles
now delivering at that facility would be directed to the FSL.
Expand Existing NCRC&SL Footprint
This alternative would involve expansion of the current established footprint for
the NCRC&SL. Properties adjacent to the current landfill property boundary
would be acquired through purchasing agreements, and new modules would be
permitted and established pursuant to CCR Title 27 and San Joaquin County
guidelines.
Establish a New Landfill at an Alternate Location in
San Joaquin County
This alternative would involve the establishment and permitting of an entirely
new landfill facility at an alternate location in San Joaquin County. New land
would be located and purchased in an area appropriately zoned for a sanitary
landfill. However, there are no other landfill sites designated for in the current
County General Plan(1999),and siting a new landfill would be difficult
considering the increasing residential population in San Joaquin County and the
increased costs associated with permitting and constructing a new facility.
Notice of Preparation for the June 2006
North County Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill 1-13
J8S 06307.06
Permit Revision
