The formatting of this report has been designed to follow, to the greatest degree
possible, San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department (EHD) Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist, dated September 25, 2007 and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements
Checklist, dated July 14, 2003.
Morada Produce has a Waste Discharge Order R5-2003-0178 dated 2003 with the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board. Based on a review of the discharge order, the facility's
process wastewater and stormwater discharge to a retention basin on the southern portion of the
site. The wastewater/stormwater is then used to irrigate the surrounding 160-acre orchard. This
SSNLS does not include the facility's process wastewater which is reported monthly and annually
by the client to the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
1.0 SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
1.1 Introduction and Development
The Soil Suitability Study (SSS) was conducted to determine whether site soils are suitable for
septic system usage. The study was performed according to the requirements of Section 9-
110.05.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code. A major element of the field work
included conducting percolation tests that meet absorption rates as specified by EHD. A review
of published soil information, geologic maps, and groundwater information was also performed.
1.1.1 Site Description
The site consists of an approximately 64.13-acre tract of land located at 500 North Jack Tone
Road, Stockton, California, San Joaquin County, California, Assessor Parcel Number (APN) 105-
040-22. Based on information obtained from the Morada Produce website, the site is a fruit,
vegetable and nut, packing and shipping facility that was developed in phases with multiple
buildings, three septic systems, one potable groundwater well, solar array and retention basin.
The facility operates year round with the peak season beginning from April to June and August to
September.
Responsive • Resourceful e ReHable 3
