0
3. Soil Drainage
Soil berms will be installed along the downslope edges of Module 5 to convey
surface storm water runoff to the down drains (Figure 1). This task is expected to
be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
4. Grading
The top deck will be graded with 3% slope to aid storm water runoff. This is an
on-going task as refuse is placed.
4. Drainage Ditches
A new drainage ditch on the west side of Module 5 has been created to converge
storm water to the new storm water pond located on the southwest corner of the
landfill. The drainage ditch will be hydroseeded and will have check dams.
•I
1. Storm Water
a. Non -Contact Storm Water
A soil berm will be constructed in the middle of Module 5B to direct storm water
to a low point (Figure 1). The berm will terminate outside of the anchor trench to
allow excess storm water overflow out of the lined Module.
A small sump pump will be placed at the low point next to the soil berm to pump
ponding storm water into the storm water pond (Figure 1). The sump pump will
be placed over a small Visqueen to protect the operations layer.
The areas outside of Module 5B have been designed to drain into the new storm
water pond. A temporary diesel powered pump will be used to pump out storm
water from the lower storm water pond in order to maintain storage capacity
(Figure 1).
2. Erosion/Sedimentation Control
The side slopes of Module 513's operations layer, new drainage ditch slopes and
other disturbed areas around Module 5B will be hydroseeded.
N:\1 North County\Winterization\2017\2017-9-13-NC-17-18 Winterization Plan.doex
NC -2017-18 Winterization Plan Page 3 of 3 Revised 10/2/2017
