Individual on the
outside WILL NOT touch the bags as they are being placed into the cart.
When the tipper cart is at capacity, the EVS personnel on the outside will
tie off the autoclave bag around the red medical (infectious) waste bags to
accomplish the double bagging policy.
d.) Infectious Linen — Individual on the inside will tie off the infectious
linen liners, pass them through the door, and place it into another
infectious linen liner that is being held open by the outside individual. The
liner is held open at the top, making sure that the hands of the outside
individual NEVER. touch the contaminated bag as it is placed into the
second liner. Once completed, the outside individual will tie off the liner
and place it into the grey tipper cart.
e.) The inside individual will replace liners — provided by the outside -
individual — as needed in: the room. Remove gloves, wash hands, and
remove the remainder of the protective equipment while exiting the
room.
5. As carts are filled, return to the basement for other empty carts:
a. Store medical waste carts in the medical waste holding room. This room must be
secured at all times and never left open when unattended.
b.
