The hatch wheel should be turned until it is hand tight.
CAUTION: Never use more than normal hand force when opening or closing sterilizer
load door. Leverage aids such as bars or pipes will overstress mechanism and should
EVER be used.
44. On the computer pad press the "Start Cycle" button. Then enter your operating code
ad push the "Enter" button. The sterilizer will then start the cycle. The red sterilizer light
will be lit along with a red indicator light on the sterilizer door. Hatch wheel will
automatically lock once the sterilization cycle has been initiated.
15. The sterilizer computer will take control of the sterilization process. The computer will
automatically monitor the process for proper temperature, vacuum and length of cycle
time. If at any time this process should be interrupted by a loss of temperature, vacuum or
cycle time, the unit will abort the sterilization process. It will not allow the operator to open
the sterilizer door and the Sterilizer Discharge indicator will NOT be showing a blue light,
thus indicating that the load was not properly sterilized. The computer will need to be reset
and the unit checked for mechanical problems for the cause of the interruption. Once
orrected, then the sterilization process can be started again with the SAME load.
16. A computer read-out on the sterilization process will be checked against the cycle read-
out on a weekly basis to assure that every load is properly sterilized. Disruptions in the
sterilization process will be noted in the San -I -Pak Cycle Inspection Log with explanations
as to how those disruptions were handled to assure proper sterilization.
17. Temperature calibration of the sterilizer will be done once per year.
18. The cycle read-out paper roll will be replaced as needed.
19. The following documents will be kept in the EVS office by the EVS Manager for a
minimum of three years:
-calibration checks
-cycle read-out
-computer read-out
-San-I-Pak cycle inspection logs
References-
None
Cross References:
None
Approvals:
Director, Environmental Services: 2/12/2008
Policy Committee: 3/19/2008
Infection Control Committee: 4/14/2008
Environment of Care Committee:4/24/2008
Board of Directors: 5/20/08
Attachments:
None
History
Effective date - 10/92
http://172.16.0.5/policy/policy.nsf/7dbOebfd3e2l O600872571470079e3a4l4bb8f84767ae l f196882573ec006... 4/13/2010
