I Plan - Medical Waste Manage &t Program Page 3 of 10 The mission of Dameron Hospital Association is to support physicians and our employees in providing quality patient care in a safe and caring environment. Consistent with this mission, the Board of Directors, medical staff, and administration have established and provided ongoing support for the Medical Waste Management Program. The purpose of the Medical Waste Management Program is to define the program to identify and manage materials known to have the potential to harm humans or the environment. The plan includes processes designed to minimize the risk of harm. The processes include education, procedures for safe handling, transporting and use, storage and disposal, and management of spills and exposures. II Scope The Medical Waste Management Program is designed to address the risks of the variety of substances addressed in this plan pose to the environment of Dameron Hospital Association and to the patients, staff, and visitors of the organization. The program is designed to assure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Dameron Hospital Association is registered status as a large quantity generator. The estimated monthly volume of medical waste generated is 20,000 pounds although only a minor percentage leaves the facility untreated for final treatment and disposition; it does not accept medical waste from any other facility.
