Plan - Medical Waste Manageracant Program Page 4 of 10 <br />(209) 944-5550 <br />Core Laboratory <br />530 West Acacia Street, Suite 1 <br />Stockton, CA 95203 <br />(209)944-5550 <br />III Fundamentals: <br />Management of specified waste materials requires specific plan elements including <br />identification, containment, handling, transport, storage, treatment, disposal, emergency <br />response and recordkeeping. <br />IV Objectives: <br />The types of medical waste generated and covered by this plan include: <br />BLOOD OR BODY FLUIDS - Liquid blood elements or other regulated body fluid, or <br />articles contaminated with blood or body fluids. <br />SHARPS - Actually or potentially -contaminated syringes, needles, blades, broken glass. <br />ISOLATION WASTE - Waste contaminated with excretion, exudate, or secretions from <br />humans who are isolated due to highly communicable diseases. <br />CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC WASTE - Trace amounts of chemotherapeutic waste. <br />PATHOLOGY WASTE - Recognizable human anatomical parts, human surgery <br />specimens or tissues. <br />PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE — Prescription or over-the-counter human drugs including, <br />but not limited to, a drug as defined by Section 109925 of the Federal Food, Drug, and <br />Cosmetic Act; does not include items regulated by Federal Resource Conservation and <br />Recovery Act or Radiation Control Law. <br />BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE - Per California Health & Safety Code Section 117635 <br />Person(s) responsible for the implementation of the plan: <br />Nurse Epidemiologist; <br />Safety Officer; <br />Director of Environmental Services; <br />Facility Hazardous Chemical Coordinator <br />Administrative Director Pathology & Core Laboratory <br />http://dhaltsO llpolicy/policy.nsf/2b0145f'9f8l 80bc287257276006425641bbd8f2e555d6304... 4/14/2011 <br />
