BSK Job E21-002-01B
July 13, 2021
Page 18
Nitrate Loading Analysis
2482 Carpenter Road
Stockton, California

4.6 Impact of Nitrogen Loading from Site Project to Downgradient Wells, Rivers, etc.:
The impact of nitrogen loading from the site should not change to down gradient wells, river, lakes, etc.,
due to the fact the amount nitrate-nitrogen containing recharge from the adult care facility should not be
changing. The site project is replacing the current septic/leech line system with a commercial septic
system.

5. DISCUSSION OF NITRATE LOADING RESULTS RELATIVE TO PROPOSED METHOD OF
WASTEWATER DISPOSAL

5.1 Total Nitrate Impact from Proposed Project:
The impact of nitrogen loading from the site should not change since the adult care facility, which is the
producer of the nitrate-nitrogen containing recharge water that is discharged to the onsite system, should
not be changing. The number of residents and staff that are currently occupying the adult care facility is
not anticipated to change for this site project. The site project associated with nitrogen loading is related
to the replacement of the existing septic/leech line system with a commercial septic system. The
expansion of the electrical substation on the southern portion of the site is not expected to contribute to
nitrogen-nitrate loading from the site.

5.2 Proposed Mitigation Methods for Nitrate-Nitrogen to Soil and Groundwater:
In areas where nitrate-nitrogen containing recharge water is too high a Fujiclean pretreatment system has
been recommended. Some of the details regarding the specifications of a Fujiclean CEN21 model as well
as the anticipated nitrate-nitrogen load reduction specific to the site can be found below:
Nitrate-Nitrogen Pretreatment system is a Fujiclean CEN21 model
The Fujiclean Tank volume is 2,550 gallons
Will treat 1,900 gpd of black water
Provides 70-75% nitrogen reducing ratio based on National Science Foundation data
Installation location updated on plans (Appendix A)
The Fujiclean CEN21 system is estimated to reduce the nitrate-nitrogen concentration of the
recharge water by 70-75% based on manufacturer's specifications and National Science
Foundation data. Based on these findings an estimated nitrate-nitrogen concentration using one
Fujiclean system should between 5.9 mg/L and 4.1 mg/L in the recharge water. This value should
be confirmed by the manufacturer after they design a system specific to this project.
