PLUMBING PIPING SYSTEMS <br />Section 15400 <br />15-1207 <br />2. Piping within building: <br />a. Black Steel Pipe: ASTM A53, A106, or A120; except comply with ASTM <br />A53 or A106 where close coiling or bending is required. <br />b. Pipe Size 2 inches and Smaller: Black steel pipe; Schedule 40; <br />malleable -iron threaded fittings. <br />C. Pipe Size 2-1/2 inches and Larger: Black steel pipe; Schedule 40; <br />wrought -steel buttwelding fittings. <br />3. Piping exposed to weather: <br />a. Black Steel Pipe: ASTM A53, A106, or A120; except comply with ASTM <br />A53 or A106 where close coiling or bending is required. <br />b. Pipe Size 2 inches and Smaller: Black steel pipe; Schedule 40; <br />malleable -iron threaded fittings. <br />C. Pipe Size 2-1/2 inches and Larger: Black steel pipe; Schedule 40; <br />wrought -steel buttwelding fittings. <br />d. Clean and paint all piping exposed to weather. Paint piping yellow. <br />F. Condensate Drain and Evaporative Cooler Drainage Piping: <br />Provide type L hard drawn copper tubing with wrought copper solder joint fittings; <br />no iron to copper connections; copper fittings with IPS outlets and threaded brass <br />nipples at connections to fixtures and equipment; di -electric couplings or unions <br />at connections to dissimilar materials. Supply piping with temporary caps on all <br />piping. <br />2. Connect condensate drains to equipment per manufacturer's recommendations <br />and provide P -Trap where required. Slope drain piping with 1" per 10 feet <br />minimum slope. <br />3. Where condensate drain line is connected to equipment mounted on a spring <br />isolation curb, isolation rails, or spring isolators, provide threaded metal <br />connector at mechanical equipment, Arrange flexible connector to ensure proper <br />drainage of condensate under all installation conditions and arrange for support <br />of flexible connection at each side of connector to insure proper alignment. <br />Flexible connectors to be as follows: <br />a. Metraflex Model SST or BST. <br />b. Unisource Manufacturing Company, "V" Connector, <br />C. Or equal <br />4. Provide wye fittings on inlet and outlet of all p -traps. Provide a removable cap on <br />top of each wye for cleaning and inspection. Drill a 1/8"0 hole in cap at outlet of <br />the trap to allow venting of the system. Minimum trap to be 4" or as <br />recommended within the manufacture's printed literature. <br />5. Provide cleanouts tees or "Y" at each change in direction. <br />2.03 PIPING SUPPORTS: <br />A. Support piping per SMACNA's Seismic Restraint Manual Second Edition 1998. <br />1. All piping to be calculated using seismic hazard level (SHL) "A". <br />5 <br />
