SOUND & COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS <br />Section 16700 <br />15-1207 <br />characteristics, appearance standards, space requirements and field service staffing levels required <br />to comply with the requirements of the specification. <br />B. Other manufacturers systems and suppliers may be acceptable, but shall be approved for bidding, <br />prior to bidding, by submitting all product data for review to the Architect/Engineer. Other <br />manufacturers who have not been identified in the final addendum as acceptable for bidding shall <br />not be approved. <br />C. Bidders wishing to submit alternate equipment shall submit to the Architect/Engineer, at least (10) <br />days prior to the bid opening, complete documentation describing the proposed equivalent system. <br />This submittal shall contain all the following pertinent information: <br />1. Manufacturer's specification sheets and literature for each alternate item. <br />2. A written submittal outlining any variances the proposed alternate system would have from the <br />specified system. All variances shall be referenced by page, paragraph and line of the <br />specification. <br />3. Valid low voltage contractor's license. <br />4. Proof from manufacturer that contractor is an authorized distributor/installer for the system <br />being proposed, with full warranty privileges. <br />D. The Owner and the specifying Engineer will make the final review of alternate systems. Submittals <br />failing to meet or exceed the specified requirements shall be rejected. No substitutions will be <br />considered after the Contract award. <br />PART 2 — PRODUCTS <br />2.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION <br />A. Components of the IP Intercom System shall provide a complete system IP Based solution for a <br />fully functioning Intercom System (IC) and Public Address System (PAS) for the project. System <br />shall include software from a single manufacturer for complete control and monitoring of the system <br />for a fully supported system. System shall be IP based and operate over a separate school Local <br />Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). <br />B. Contractor shall provide all system programming for configuration and interfaces. <br />C. System shall be capable of being configured and controlled remotely via Owner provided <br />connectivity (e.g. via a smart phone, VPN, etc.). <br />D. System shall include General Purpose Input and Output (GPIO) trigger points for interfacing to <br />other systems including Emergency and Security Systems, to provide event driven configuration <br />scenarios for the system. <br />E. Each classroom shall be a "zone" on the system capable of individual intercom use or as part of a <br />"zone group" or "all call" during Public Address System use. Classroom end device shall be a PoE <br />device attached to the school network. <br />F. Common areas, including but not limited to, Corridors, Commons (cafeteria), Gymnasium, Media <br />Center, Mechanical Rooms, and Restrooms, shall be provided with PAS coverage from the system <br />for general and emergency announcements. <br />G. System shall provide multicast or hybrid unicast/multicast for configuration of LAN and WAN with <br />standard Ethernet protocols. No exceptions. <br />H. System shall interface with any telephone system utilizing either SIP, FXS or FXO Port type <br />integration thus allowing the school(s) to upgrade or replace their telephone system without <br />3 <br />
