C. Protection of Cables: Cables within terminal cabinets equipment racks etc., shall be <br />grouped and bundled (harnessed) as to type and laced with No. 12 cord waxed linen <br />lacing twine or T & B "Ty -Rap" cable. Edge protection material ("cat -track") shall be <br />installed on edges of holes, lips of ducts or any other point where cables or harnesses <br />cross metallic edge. <br />D. Cable Identification: Cable conductors shall be color coded and individual cables shall <br />be individually identified. Each cable identification shall be a unique number located <br />approximately one and one-half inches (1 1/2") from cable connection at both ends of <br />cable. Numbers shall be approximately one-quarter inch (1/4") in height. These <br />unique numbers shall appear on the As -Built Drawings. <br />E. Phasing: Audio circuit wiring shall be phased throughout. Color coded conductor of all <br />audio pairs (red) shall be high potential side of circuit and mating conductor (black) shall <br />be low potential. Reproducers in common enclosed area or adjoining areas open to <br />each other shall be connected in phase with one another. <br />F. Reproducers shall be checked for proper angles of coverage and permissible use of <br />volume, which shall not exceed more than 25% of rated RMS output. G. Shielding: <br />Cable shielding shall be connected to common ground at point of lowest audio level and <br />shall be free from ground at any other point. Cable shields shall be terminated in same <br />manner as conductors. Tape all shields in field. <br />H. Provide and Install program clock system wiring in accordance with that shown ad as <br />required by equipment manufacturers wiring diagram. Lace all wiring within terminal <br />cabinets with lacing cord or "Ty -Rap". Wiring shall be color coded. Final connections <br />shall be supervised by factory -trained technician from equipment manufacturer. <br />1. System componets shall be securely fastened to their support independently of the <br />wiring. Installation of wiring shall be installed in raceway systems in accordance <br />with SECTION 16070, INSULATED CONDUCTORS. <br />2. The work shall be carefully laid out in advance. Cutting, channeling, chasing, or <br />drilling of floors, walls, partitions, ceiling or other surfaces that is necessary for <br />proper installation, support, or anchorage of the conduit or other work shall be <br />carefully done. Damage to building, piping or equipment shall be repaired and <br />refinished by skilled mechanics of the trades involved. <br />Program clock system controller to work with campus intercom system speakers, <br />Interconnect equipment as required. <br />Nameplates: Terminal cabinets and junction boxes shall have plastic engraved nameplates to <br />identify each with Drawings and Specifications. Nameplate letters or numbers shall be <br />minimum three-eighths inch (3/8") high. <br />K. Conduct performance tests in the presence of the Architect after Systems have been placed into <br />operation to verify that installation and components comply with these Specifications. <br />Contractor shall furnish competent personnel for these tests. Final inspection and test will be <br />made after receipt by Owner of One -Line Diagrams. Contractor, together with equipment <br />manufacturer's agent, shall submit written certificate stating that System installation and its <br />component parts are as listed and that installation conforms in all respects to requirements as <br />1.1 <br />
