MULTI-PURPOSE SOUND SYSTEM
Section 16780
15-1207
processing and volume control from the control system (Touch Panel execution shall be
provided in the remote control description of this document).
a. The music input shall require a 3.5mm stereo unbalanced jack, terminated to a
summing transformer with a balanced mono output. This proper interface must be
included to insure a high quality audio feed from the wall plates to the equipment
rack.
b. The microphone inputs XLR-F shall require a non -latching connector to protect from
cable damage and ensure safety.
2. Two wireless handheld microphones shall be provided for use in the Gymnasium. The
wireless system shall operate in the UHF band between 480 MHz and 790 MHz.
Effective range of the system, receiver to transmitter, shall be 100 meters under optimal
conditions. The system shall allow selection of over 32 systems operating
simultaneously with select frequencies across 36 MHz of bandwidth in orderto avoid RF
interface. Optimal frequencies shall be selected automatically, ensuring that individual
systems run at their highest level of performance, and that multiple systems in
simultaneous use do not interfere with one another.
a. The transmitters shall be powered with batteries that are easily accessible.
Acceptable battery formats include 9 volt or AA alkaline. Transmitters shall have
a power on /off switch, as well as a backlit LCD showing group and channel,
peak indication, and battery strength.
i. Provide two handheld wireless transmitters
ii. Provide one wireless mixer transmitter (i.e. bodypack transmitter)
b. The receiver shall have a multi -function display showing group, channel, and
frequency; squelch level, transmitter battery strength. The system shall use
diversity technology to improve reception, minimize signal dropouts, and achieve
the best possible signal-to-noise ratio. Tone key squelch, and noise squelch
circuitry shall be built in to the system to provide optimal sound quality and
minimize unwanted noise. The receiver shall include an RF meter, an audio-
meter, and a volume control
c. The sound contractor shall be responsible to provide remote antennas as
required. RF wireless coverage shall be limited to the multi -use area only.
I Thin wireless mitrnnhnna raraivarc chnll rcni lira n r i xiemih/ antenna nnnfi i irnfinn Whirh
operates both transmitters simultaneously. The proper selection of the UHF frequency
shall also remain the responsibility of the audiovisual contractor. Conduit shall be
provided by others as indicated on the plan, however, it remains the responsibility of the
audiovisual contractor to properly terminate the antennas and provide antenna
amplification as required. Provide wire guards for all antennas.
2.5 REMOTE AUDIO MIXING
A. A small portable 4 channel microphone /2 stereo fine mixer shall be provided to control
microphones and playback audio from any location within the gymnasium. The audio
output from the mixer shall be transmitted to the gymnasium audio system with a
wireless bodypack transmitter. T he mixer may also be used for recording, producing a
live show or the playback of any computer audio project via computer tracking by tracks
using the USS digital audio interface. The small size and layout provides flexibility and
great audio quality v"viti i ease of use. Auuitivn'ai 'a`.essoI les sh'aiI ii 1%,Iuuc;
a. a soft bag carrying case,
b.
