SUBMITTALS <br />Section 01300 <br />15-1207 <br />B. Samples shall be of sufficient size and quantity to clearly illustrate: <br />1. Functional characteristics of product or material, with integrally related parts and <br />attachment devices. <br />2. After review, samples may be used in construction of project. <br />C. Field samples and mockups: <br />1. Erect at project site at location acceptable to Architect. <br />2. Construct each sample or mockup complete, including work of all trades required in <br />finished work. <br />2.06 SUBSTITUTIONS <br />A. Architect's Approval Required: <br />1. Contract is based on materials, equipment and methods described in Contract <br />Documents. Substitutions will not be reviewed and approved prior to the award of the <br />contract. <br />2. Architect will consider proposals during the submittal process for substitution of <br />materials, equipment and methods only when such proposals are accompanied by full <br />and complete technical data and all other information required by Architect to evaluate <br />proposed substitution. Substitution shall be submitted with completed <br />Substitution Request Form, included with this section. <br />3. Do not substitute materials, equipment or methods unless such substitution has been <br />specifically approved for this work by Architect. <br />B. "Or Equal": Whenever, in Contract Documents, any material, process or specified patent or <br />proprietary name and/or by name of manufacturer is indicated, such name shall be deemed <br />to be used for purpose of facilitating description of material and/or process desired, and shall <br />be deemed to be followed by the words "or equal", or "accepted equal", and Contractor may <br />offer any material or process which shall be equal in every respect to that so indicated or <br />specified; provided, however, that if material, process or article offered by Contractor is not, in <br />opinion of Architect, equal in every respect to that specified, then Contractor must furnish <br />material, process or article specified or one that in opinion of Architect is equal thereof in <br />every respect. <br />C. "No Substitutions": Items indicated as "No Substitutions" must be provided as specified and <br />no alternates will be allowed. These items are required either due to District standards <br />implemented by the Board or to match materials recently installed by others. <br />D. Coordination: Approval of substitution shall not relieve Contractor from responsibility for <br />compliance with all requirements of Drawings and Project Manual, and Contractor shall be <br />responsible at his own expense for any changes in other parts of his own work or work of <br />others which may be caused by approved substitution. <br />E. DSA Approval: Substitutions of certain items may cause such items to require a Deferred <br />Approval by DSR. Should a DSA Deferred Approval be required, the Contractor shall provide <br />all information and documents necessary to complete the Deferred Approval process without <br />any additional costs to the Owner, including engineering, calculation and modification of <br />substitute products. <br />2.07 REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION (RFI) <br />A. Requests for additional information (RFI's) beyond that set -forth in the Contract Documents <br />4 <br />
