Provide shoring, sheeting, sheet piles and or bracing to prevent caving, erosion or gullying of <br />sides of excavation. <br />E. Surface Drainage: Provide for surface drainage during period of construction in manner to <br />avoid creating nuisance to adjacent areas. The contractor shall make a reasonable effort on <br />a daily basis to keep all excavations and the site free from water during entire progress of <br />work, regardless of cause, source, or nature of water. <br />F. Adjacent streets and sidewalks shall be kept free of mud, dirt or similar nuisances resulting <br />from earthwork operations. <br />G. The site and adjacent influenced areas shall be watered as required to suppress dust <br />nuisance. Dust control measures shall be in accordance with the local jurisdiction. <br />H. Trees: Carefully protect existing trees that are to remain. Provide temporary irrigation as <br />necessary to maintain health of trees. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION <br />1. No ground -disturbing activities shall be allowed outside of the project construction <br />boundary. Construction fencing shall be placed at the boundary of the project site to <br />clearly mark the limits of ground -disturbing activities. <br />2. All project -related traffic shall be restricted to designated access roads, routes, and <br />construction areas within the project boundary. No vehicular or pedestrian traffic <br />shall be allowed outside the designated project boundary. <br />3. Prior to initiation of any site preparation/construction activities, a USFWS-approved <br />biologist will conduct an education and training session for all construction <br />personnel. The training program will instruct workers on the life history and ecology <br />of vernal pool crustaceans, requirements to avoid damaging the crustaceans and <br />their habitat (vernal pools/seasonal wetlands), and the possible penalties for not <br />complying with these requirements. <br />4. To prevent sediment, hazardous materials, and other pollutants from washing or <br />running off into the vernal swale and vernal pools outside of the project site, the <br />contractor shall implement best management practices as identified in a Storm <br />Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). <br />5. Dirt roadways or other areas of disturbed bare ground within 100 feet of elderberry <br />shrubs will be watered at least twice a day to minimize dust emissions. <br />6. A worker awareness training program for construction personnel will be conducted <br />by a qualified biologist prior to beginning construction activities. The program will <br />inform all construction personnel about the life history and status of the beetle, <br />requirements to avoid damaging the elderberry plants, and the possible penalties for <br />not complying with these requirements. Written documentation of the training will be <br />submitted to USFWS within 30 days of its completion. <br />7. Contractor to avoid and protect all protected species. <br />1.12 SEASONAL LIMITS <br />A. No fill material shall be placed, spread or rolled during unfavorable weather conditions. <br />5 <br />
