EARTHWORK <br />Section 02200 <br />15-1207 <br />ability to locate by means of inductive clamping, induction, inductive metal detection, <br />conductive coupling, or TransOnde (Radiodetection) to generate signals, passive <br />locating (free scoping) for "hot" electric, and metal detector. <br />4. The Underground Utility Locator Service must be able to locate existing utilities at a <br />depth of at least 72". <br />5. The Underground Utility Locator Service must be able to locate but are not limited to <br />locating the following types of utility pathways: <br />a) All conduit pathways containing 110 volt or greater 50-60Hz electrical wire. <br />b) All conduit pathways containing an active cable TV system. <br />C) All conduit pathways containing wire or conductor in which a signal can be <br />attached and generated without damaging or triggering the existing systems. <br />d) All empty conduit pathways or pipe in which a signal probe or sonde <br />(miniature transmitter) can be inserted. <br />e) All conduit pathways containing non-conductive cables or wires in which a <br />signal probe or sonde (miniature transmitter) can be inserted. <br />f) All plastic and other nonconductive water lines in which a TransOnde <br />Radiodetection) or other "transmitter" can be applied to create a low <br />frequency pressure waive (signal) without damaging or triggering the existing <br />systems. <br />g) All copper or steel waterlines and plastic or steel gas lines <br />6. All markings made by the Underground Utility Locator Service or other shall be clear <br />and visible. <br />7. The contractor shall maintain all markings made by Underground Utility Locator <br />Service or other throughout the entire length of the project. <br />8. The Underground Utility Locator Service shall provide the contractor with two sets of <br />maps showing the location of utilities and average depth. They will be referenced to <br />permanent buildings. Contractor will deliver one copy to the district at no additional <br />charge. <br />9. Contractor is responsible to contact Underground Service Alert (U.S.A. 800/227- <br />2600) and receive clearance prior to any excavation operations. <br />10. Contractor shall inform the (District's Construction Manger) (Architect) (Owner) no <br />later than five (5) days prior to the date scheduled for the utility locator service to be <br />on site. <br />1.11 PROTECTION <br />A. Adequate protection measures shall be provided to protect workmen and passers-by on and <br />off the site. Adjacent property shall be fully protected throughout the operations. Blasting will <br />not be permitted. Prevent damage to adjoining improvements and properties both above and <br />below grade. Restore such improvements to original condition should damage occur. <br />Replace trees and shrubs outside building area disturbed by operations. <br />B. In accordance with generally accepted construction practices, the Contractor shall be solely <br />and completely responsible for working conditions at the job site, including safety of all <br />persons and property during performance of the work. This requirement shall apply <br />continuously and shall not be limited to normal working hours. <br />C. Any construction review of the Contractor's performance conducted by the Geotechnical <br />Engineer is not intended to include review of the adequacy of the Contractor's safety <br />4 <br />
