PIPED UTILITIES <br />Section 02700 <br />15-1207 <br />2.01 MATERIALS - GENERAL <br />A. Provide each item listed herein or shown on drawings of quality noted or approved <br />equal. All material shall be new, full weight, standard in all respects and in first-class <br />condition. Insofar as possible, all materials used shall be of same brand or manufacture <br />throughout for each class of material or equipment. Materials shall be of domestic <br />manufacture and shall be tested within Continental United States. <br />B. Grade or quality of materials desired is indicated by trade names or catalog numbers <br />stated herein. <br />C. Dimensions, sizes, and capacities shown are minimum and shall not be changed without <br />permission of Architect. <br />D. All materials in this section used for any public water system or domestic water for <br />human consumption shall be lead free. <br />1. For the purposes of this section, "lead free" means not more than 0.2 percent <br />lead when used with respect to solder and flux and not more than 8 percent <br />when used with respect to pipes and pipe fittings. <br />2. All pipe, pipe or plumbing fitting or fixtures, solder, or flux shall be certified by an <br />independent American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited third party, <br />including, but not limited to, NSF International, as being in compliance with this <br />section. <br />E. All materials used for fire system piping shall be UL and FM approved. <br />2.02 VALVE BOXES <br />A. Provide at each valve or cock in ground a Christy, Brooks, or equal to Christy G05CT, <br />concrete valve box with cover marked for service, domestic water shall be marked <br />"Water' and fire supply shall be marked "Fire". Furnish extension handles for each <br />size square nut valve, and provide "fork" handle for each size of "wheel handle" valve as <br />required. Do not locate valve boxes in walk, or covered passages, curbs, or curb & <br />gutters, unless necessary. If valve location is within concrete or asphalt paved surface <br />valve box shall be as detailed on plans for such condition. Provide valve box extensions <br />as required to set bottom of valve box to bottom of piping in which valve is installed. <br />Provide Owner with set of special wrenches and/or tools as required for operation of <br />valves. <br />2.03 PIPES AND FITTINGS <br />A. Sanitary Sewer: PVC sewer pipe and fittings with Ring-Tite joints, ASTM D3034 <br />SDR35. <br />B. Domestic water Lines 3 1/2" and smaller: Type K copper tubing, hard temper, with <br />wrought copper fittings or Schedule 80 PVC, ASTM D 1784. <br />k <br />
