STRUCTURAL STEEL <br />Section 05100 <br />15-1207 <br />2.06 WELDING ELECTRODES <br />A. AWS; Welding processes shall be limited to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core <br />Arc Weld (FCAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW; short circuiting transfer not <br />permitted), except that Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) may be used for shop welding. <br />Electrodes shall be applicable types and classes for prequalified joints: FCAW filler metal <br />wire shall be limited to 5/64" diameter max. and SMAW welding electrodes shall be limited to <br />5/32" diameter max. Weld beads shall not exceed 1/2" in width, weave beads prohibited. <br />B. AWS Standards E70 or equivalent, except no E70T-4 allowed. <br />2.07 Grout: <br />A. ASTM C 1107, Non -shrink, non-metallic aggregate type, capable of developing minimum <br />compressive strength of 7,000 psi at 28 days. Provide "Masterflow 928" manufactured by <br />Master Builders. <br />2.08 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. An independent Testing Agency will perform source quality control tests and submit reports, <br />as specified in pertinent sections of Division 01. <br />B. Steel Materials Testing: <br />Unidentified steel- General: Test all structural shapes. In addition, test to verify Fy <br />and Fu values when engineering requirements exceed Fy = 25 ksi for design. <br />C. Bolts, Nuts and Washers: Provide samples to Testing Agency for required testing, at no <br />additional cost. <br />D. Inspect shop fabrication of steel trusses and steel braced frames in accordance with CBC <br />Section 1704A.3.1.4. The Inspector shall furnish the Architect, Structural Engineer and the <br />Division of the State Architect a report that the materials and workmanship conform to the <br />approved plans and specifications. <br />E. Costs in connection with shop fabricators, shop welding and field welding or tests for <br />structural steel will be paid as provided for in the General Conditions, except that costs of all <br />reinspection of items which did not initially pass and testing of unidentified steel will be <br />backcharged to the Contractor. <br />F. Test and inspect High Strength Bolts and installation in accordance with CBC Section <br />1704A.3.3 and 2212A.2. <br />G.
