COLD FORMED METAL FRAMING <br />Section 05400 <br />15-1207 <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to installation of the work of this Section, carefully inspect and verify that installed work <br />of all other grades is complete to the point where this installation may properly commence. <br />B. Verify that specified items may be installed in accordance with the approved design. <br />C. In event of discrepancy, immediately notify Contractor. Do not proceed in discrepant areas <br />until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />3.02 ERECTION OF FRAMING <br />A. General: Install components in accordance with manufacturer's instructions, as shown on <br />drawings and as herein specified. Clean surfaces that will be in contact after assembly and <br />position members plumb, square and true to line. <br />Metal Framing: <br />a. ASTM C754-04. <br />b. Studs: SSMA and manufacturer's recommendations. <br />2. Assemblies: <br />a. Fire Rated: Per UL and local code requirements. Use one manufacturer for <br />each assembly, unless otherwise permitted by governing authorities. <br />b. Sound Controlled: Use one manufacturer for each assembly, unless otherwise <br />permitted by manufacturer. <br />B. Backing Plates: Install for built-in items; attach metal studs by welds or (SMS) as applicable. <br />C. Lath & Plaster: Provide studs and metal backing as required for complete installation of lath <br />and accessories specified in Section 09200, Lath & Plaster. <br />D. Suspended Ceilings: <br />1. General: Install for gypsum wallboard ceilings. Where ductwork or other obstructions <br />prohibit use of specified system, provide heavier system per referenced Standard. <br />Materials and installation to conform to DSA IR 25-3. <br />2. Hanger Wires: <br />a. General: Space at 48" centers both ways; do not support more than 16 sf of <br />ceiling per wire. Locate a hanger within 6" of end of main runners. <br />b. Concrete Supports: Wrap wires around reinforcing steel with a twist or loop and <br />embed at least 2" into concrete or attach appropriate type inserts. <br />C. Metal Decking: Wires may be attached by penetrating through the decking, and <br />being wrapped 3 times minimum around a piece of #3 x 12 inch minimum long <br />rebar. No penetrations permitted through electrified cells. If provided as integral <br />part of metal decking, wire may be attached through hanger slots. <br />d. Steel Supports: Wrap around or through steel, or attach by other acceptable <br />methods. <br />5 <br />
