COLD FORMED METAL FRAMING <br />Section 05400 <br />15-1207 <br />3. Runner Channels: Space not over 48" centers; wrap each hanger wire twice around <br />runner channel. <br />4. Furring Channels: Attach runner channels at 16" centers with snap -on clips or other <br />acceptable methods. <br />5. Openings: Reinforce as required for support of mechanical and electrical fixtures. <br />6. Seismic Restraint: As shown on drawings. <br />3.03 ERECTION OF JOISTS <br />A. Install framing components in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />B. Make provisions for erection stresses. Provide temporary alignment and bracing. <br />C. Place joists at 16" o.c. unless noted otherwise; not more than 2" from abutting walls. <br />Connect joists to supports using fastener method. <br />D. Set ceiling joists parallel and level, with lateral bracing and bridging. <br />E. Locate joist end bearing directly over load bearing studs or provide load distributing member <br />to top of stud track. <br />F. Provide joist web stiffeners at reaction points. <br />G. Touch-up field welds and damaged galvanized surfaces with primer. <br />3.04 PROTECTION <br />A. Protect work and materials of this Section prior to and during installation, and protect the <br />installed work and materials of other trades. <br />B. In the event of damage, make all repairs and replacements necessary to the approval of the <br />Architect at no additional cost to the Owner. <br />C. Maintain partition in fully open position completely covered with protective materials until final <br />acceptance by the Architect. <br />3.05 DEFECTIVE WORK AND MATERIALS <br />A. Work found to be defective, missing or damaged shall be immediately replaced with proper <br />work. Such replaced work and the inspection for same shall be at the expense of the <br />Contractor. <br />B. Straightening of any materials, if necessary, shall be done by a process and in a manner that <br />will not injure the materials, and which is approved by the Architect. Sharp kinks or bends <br />shall be cause for rejection. Heating will not be allowed. <br />C. If defects or damaged work cannot be corrected in the field, the material shall be returned to <br />the shop or new parts furnished, as the Architect directs; the Contractor shall replace all work <br />at his own expense. <br />END OF SECTION <br />
