Web Stiffeners and Blocking Panels: Comply with details and manufacturer's <br />recommendations. <br />E. Metal Bridging: Metal bridging shall be 20 gauge "TB -tension bridging" (nail type) as <br />manufactured by Simpson Strong -Tie Company, Inc. or accepted equal. <br />2.03 FABRICATION <br />A. Wood "I" joists shall be manufactured in a plant with a quality assurance program accepted <br />by the Division of the State Architect (DSA). <br />B. Each of the joists shall be identified by a stamp indicating the joist type, evaluation report <br />number, manufacturer's name, plant identification and the name or logo of the quality control <br />agency. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 ERECTION <br />A. Prefabricated wood "I" joists are to be erected and installed in accordance with plans, shop <br />drawings, and manufacturer's installation suggestions. Temporary construction loads which <br />cause stresses beyond design limits are not permitted. Erection bracing, in addition to that <br />specified, is to be provided to keep the joist straight and plumb as required. This bracing is <br />also to assure adequate lateral support for the individual joists and the entire system, until <br />the sheathing material has been fully applied. <br />B. When the span of the joist exceeds 16 feet, a minimum of one row of bridging or blocking <br />shall be installed at midspan or as indicated on the manufacturer's approved shop drawings. <br />See drawings for more restrictive requirements. <br />C. Wood "I" joist blocking shall be the same material as the wood "I" joist, unless noted <br />otherwise on contract drawings. <br />D. Hammering on inside of flanges (away from web) will not be permitted. <br />E. Nails or screws into the side of flange, for the purpose of supporting pipe or other loads will <br />not be permitted except as shown on drawings and approved by DSA. <br />F. No cutting or notching of the flanges will be permitted. <br />G. Holes shall not be cut in the web unless such holes are specifically detailed and dimensioned <br />on the shop drawings. <br />H. Contractor is to give notification before enclosing the trusses to provide opportunity for <br />inspection of the installation. <br />4 <br />
