WATER REPELLENTS & <br />ANTI -GRAFFITI COATINGS <br />Section 07180 <br />15-1207 <br />1.08 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. The applicator shall examine all drawings and specifications and note all conditions that might <br />affect the applicator's work or performance in fulfilling the contract. The Architect shall be <br />notified by the applicator of any unacceptable conditions prior to application. <br />B. Environmental Requirements: <br />1. None of the work outlined in this section shall be conducted at surface and air <br />temperatures below 40 degrees F. or above 95 degrees F. Work shall not be conducted <br />when there is a chance of the surface temperature falling below 40 degrees F. during the <br />8 hours following application. <br />2. The materials shall not be applied during rain, to wet surfaces or when there is a chance <br />of rain within 4 hours after application. <br />3. The water repellent shall not be applied when winds are sufficient to carry airborne <br />chemicals to unprotected surfaces. <br />PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIAL <br />A. Materials must be penetrating silane formulation only. No siloxane, siliconate, silicone, acrylic <br />or silane/siloxane emulsions are allowed. <br />B. Products will be from Evonik Degussa Corp (707-823-8963), or accepted equal, as designed <br />for the following substrates. <br />1. Water Repellent: <br />Brick and concrete masonry units: Aqua -Trete Concentrate 100% Silane concentrate. <br />CMU's — Mix ration 9 pts water to 1 part Aqua -Trete. <br />Brick — Mix ration 14 pts water to 1 part Aqua -Trete. <br />Concrete — Aqua -Trete 20 Silane. <br />Plaster — Aqua -Trete 20 Silane. <br />2. Anti Graffiti Coating: <br />Protectosil Anit Graffiti Coating 95% breathable Silane based. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL <br />A. Apply water repellent and anti -graffiti coatings to all exterior exposed brick, concrete masonry, <br />and other masonry surfaces. Apply to exterior concrete and plaster finishes where shown. <br />3.02 PREPARATION OF SURFACES <br />A. All voids or beeholes in mortar joints shall be properly repaired. Cracks in masonry surfaces <br />should be repaired using a suitable cementitious mortar or polyurethane joint sealant as <br />acceptable to owner. Open cracks, as necessary, to properly introduce and bond repair <br />material the sealant to the surfaces involved. Joint sealant must be compatible with the <br />3 <br />
