ROOF & SMOKE HATCHES <br />& VENTS <br />Section 07830 <br />15-1207 <br />equipped with compression spring operators enclosed in telescopic tubes to provide, <br />smooth, easy, and controlled cover operation throughout the entire arc of opening and <br />closing. Cover shall be equipped with a spring latch interior turn handle and padlock hasp. <br />B. Hatch Railing System: Install on all roof hatches the Bil-Guard, (model RL as appropriate to <br />fit hatch), fixed railing system or approved equal. Fixed railing system shall pre - <br />manufactured and designed to mount to outside face of roof hatch curb. Railing systems <br />that penetrate roof deck are not acceptable. Fixed railing system gate shall be self-closing <br />and self -latching. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to installation, carefully inspect and verify that the installed work of other trades is <br />complete to the point where this installation may properly commence. <br />B. Verify that specified items may be installed in accordance with the approved design. <br />C. In the event of discrepancy, immediately notify Architect. Do not proceed in discrepant <br />areas until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />3.02 INSTALLATION OF HATCHES AND VENTS <br />A. Set unit over prepared opening; fasten to roof deck in accordance with manufacturer's <br />directions. Adjust lift hinges and accessories to insure proper operation. <br />B. Touch-up abraded prime coat surfaces and protective coatings after completion of <br />installation. Print per specification section 09900. <br />C. Test all smoke hatches in the presence of the Owner to demonstrate proper operation as <br />required by Project Inspector and/or Fire Authority. <br />3.03 INSTALLATION OF ACCESSORIES <br />A. Install accessories in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and reviewed <br />shop drawings. <br />B. Separate dissimilar metals from each other by painting each metal surface in the area of <br />contact with a bituminous coating, or by other permanent separation as recommended by <br />the manufacturer of the dissimilar metals. <br />C. Install safety posts at all roof top hatches on fixed ladder below hatch cover. <br />3.04 CLEANING AND ADJUSTING <br />A. After work is fully complete, remove protective materials. Replace damaged parts and/or <br />surfaces. Clean products, leave in acceptable condition as approved. Touch-up scratched <br />and marred surfaces. <br />3 <br />
