FINISH HARDWARE <br />Section 08710 <br />15-1207 <br />2.16 THRESHOLDS <br />A. Thresholds shall be sized as required for door opening. Use a single threshold whenever <br />possible at double door installation. <br />2.17 EXIT DEVICES <br />A. Provide shims as required for proper clearance at doors with glass panels. <br />B. Devices shall meet the 5 Ib. maximum operable force per CBC Chapter 11 B-309.4 for doors <br />and gates. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSTALLATION <br />A. Install hardware in precise manner, in accord with manufacturer's printed instructions; door <br />clearance and hardware placement as specified. Pre -drill pilot holes in wood for screws. Drill <br />and tap for surface mounted hardware on metal. Set hinge leaves snug and flat in mortises; <br />turn screws to flat seat (do not drive). <br />B. Mount door closers for maximum swing of door before setting stops. Place silencers before <br />adjusting strikes. Drive hinge pins down and tighten set screws. <br />C. Install locks with keyways in proper position, and knobs, roses and escutcheons firmly affixed. <br />D. Set thresholds in full bed of waterproof sealant and secure with anchors specified above. <br />E. Except for hinges, do not install hardware until completion of painting and finishing work. <br />F. Adjust hardware so that moving parts operate freely without bind or excessive play. Installed <br />hardware shall be free from paint, corrosion or damage. <br />G. Adjust door and floor closers for closing speed, latching speed, back checking, and adjust <br />hold -open devices for full control of door. Maximum effort to operate doors shall not exceed <br />5.0 lbs. for exterior and interior doors; Fire -rated doors to have the minimum opening force <br />allowable by the appropriate administrative authority, not to exceed 15 lbs. <br />3.02 HARDWARE PLACEMENT <br />A. Unless detailed otherwise, place hardware at following height above finish floor: <br />Strike (centerline for locks and latches) 40-5/16 inches <br />Hinges Manufacturer's Standards <br />Door Pull (centerline) 42 inches <br />Pushplate (centerline) 44 inches <br />Deadlocks Centerline of strike at 44 inches <br />B. Exit Devices: Other than doors with full height glazing, the top of Exit Devices are not to be <br />mounted above the bottom of door vision frames. <br />12 <br />
