ACOUSTICAL CEILINGS <br />Section 09510 <br />15-1207 <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 INSPECTION <br />A. Prior to installation of the work of this Section, carefully inspect and verify that installed work <br />of all other trades is complete to the point where this installation may properly commence. <br />B. Verify that suspended acoustical ceiling may be installed in accordance with the original <br />design, all codes and regulations, and the reviewed Shop Drawings. <br />C. In event of discrepancy, immediately notify Architect. Do not proceed in discrepant areas <br />until discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />D. Installer shall examine all substrates and verify that ceiling surfaces are acceptable. Notify <br />Contractor of conditions detrimental to proper installation of ceiling tile. Beginning work <br />indicates acceptance of existing conditions. <br />3.02 PREPARATION <br />A. Lay out suspension system and acoustical ceiling panels as indicated in drawings. Install all <br />acoustical units with grain in same direction as applicable. <br />B. Coordinate with mechanical and electrical trades in correct locations of lighting fixtures, <br />grilles, registers and other items to be installed in suspension system. <br />C. Measure each ceiling area and establish layout of adhesive applied acoustical ceiling tiles to <br />balance border widths at opposite edges of each ceiling. Avoid use of less than half -width <br />units at borders and comply with reflected ceiling plans. <br />D. Prior to installation of the suspended ceiling system, a copy of an acceptable substantiating <br />test report and certifications shall be submitted to the Architect as described in article 1.03 <br />above for review. The test shall show that the axial tension and compression ultimate load <br />capacity of the runners and cross runners and their splices, intersection connections and <br />expansion devices complying with these specification requirements. Evaluation of test results <br />shall be made on the basis of the mean values resulting from tests of not fewer than three <br />identical specimens, provided the deviation of any individual test result from the mean value <br />does not exceed plus or minus 10 percent. Tests shall be made by an approved testing <br />agency. <br />3.03 INSTALLATION OF SUSPENDED CEILING SYSTEM AND PANELS <br />A. Suspended Ceiling System: Install in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions, <br />drawings, ASTM C636, ASTM E580, and the DSA IR. Fabrication and erection methods and <br />workmanship shall result in completed installation that is neat and uniform, free from defects <br />and irregularities. Suspended ceiling system member lengths shall be as long as is practical. <br />1. Install wall moulding at perimeter securely fastened at all, straight, level and in true <br />alignment with plane of grid. <br />2. Hang main runners in a flat., true, level plane, spaced 4 -feet on -center and supported by <br />hanger wires spaced not more than 4 -feet on -center. Cross tees shall be placed on 2 <br />7 <br />
