MECHANICAL GENERAL CONDITIONS <br />Section 15010 <br />15-1207 <br />H. If Contractor desires to make a substitution, he shall submit complete information or catalog <br />data to show equality of equipment or material offered to that specified. <br />1. Only one request for substitution will be considered on each item of material or <br />equipment. No substitutions will be considered thereafter. <br />2. Scheduled Products and first named manufacturer/product forms basis of design. All <br />other manufacturers' products are substitutions. <br />3. No substitutions will be allowed unless requested and reviewed in writing. <br />4. The Architect shall review and take appropriate action on shop Drawings, product <br />data, samples, and other submittals required by the Contract Documents. Such <br />review shall be only for general conformance with the design concept and general <br />compliance with the information given in the Contract Documents. It shall not include <br />review of quantities, dimensions, weights or gauges, fabrication processes, <br />construction methods, coordination with the work of other trades, or construction <br />safety precautions, all of which are the sole responsibility of the Contractor. <br />5. Review of a specific item shall not indicate acceptance of an assembly of which the <br />item is a component. The Architect shall not be required to review and shall not be <br />responsible for any deviations from the Contract Documents not clearly noted by the <br />Contractor, nor shall the Architect be required to review partial submissions or those <br />for which submissions for correlated items have not been received. Architect <br />reserves right to require originally specified item. <br />Installation of reviewed substitution is Contractor's responsibility. Any changes required for <br />installation of reviewed substituted equipment must be made without additional cost to the <br />owner. Review by the Architect of the substituted equipment and/or dimensional Drawings <br />do not waive these requirements. <br />1.09 MAINTENANCE AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: <br />A. Instruct the Owners' authorized representatives in the operation, adjustment, and <br />maintenance of all mechanical equipment and systems. Provide 3 copies of certificate <br />signed by Owner's representatives attesting to their having been instructed. <br />B. Furnish Architect with three complete sets of operating and maintenance (O&M) instructions. <br />1. O&M manuals to be bound in hardboard binder and indexed. <br />2. O&M manuals to include: descriptive literature, catalog cuts, and diagrams covering <br />all items of operation and maintenance for each and every mechanical system and <br />piece of equipment furnished under these specifications. <br />3. Include in each set a copy of the air balance test report specified hereinafter. <br />C. Contractor must start compiling the above data (including obtaining operating and <br />maintenance instruction data and catalog cuts and diagrams from the manufacturer of the <br />reviewed equipment) immediately upon review of his list of materials, so as not to delay the <br />final installation of the work. <br />D. Bind and index each set in a durable, hardboard binder. Final observation will not be made <br />until booklets are submitted and have been reviewed by the Architect. <br />E.
