Complaint Investigation Summary Report #: 5105
COMPLAINT ID: CONZYOFMJ Site Location: 6649 EMBARCADERO DRIVE
Activity Summary
Activity Date Recorded by
07/30/2021 Briefed Environmental Health Specialist Vicky yang-Lee (EHD) on boat incident. MURO
Provided copy of spill report and contact information
07/30/2021 4:18 PM - 5 PM Received update on boat incident and photos from Vicky. MURO
Reviewed.
Left EHD. En route to Village West Marina.
07/30/2021 Continued from day. Arrived at Village West Marina. MURO
Was granted access to the site and gate key from harbor attendant. Drove to
Dock C Slip 18. Observed the boat was no longer on-site. Boom was still in place.
Small amount of sheen estimated at less than 2 ounces was observed to have
flowed toward south end of the boom. No sheen observed in neighboring slips.
No sheen observed on outer perimeter of boom. No fuel odor was detected.
Met with Jason McDermott, Assistant Harbor Master at Village West Marina and
Resort. Jason reported that there was no breech in any of the boat compartments
as determined by the divers that assessed the submersed boat prior to raising the
boat out of the water. The sheen was determined to be from the surface of the
boats engine. Jason will leave the boom in place and will apply absorbent pads to
the sheen. Once sheen has been absorbed, the waste generated will be
consolidated with the facility's hazardous waste storage and will be picked up by
Safety Kleen. I confirmed on Envision Connect that Village West Marina has an
active 2220 program with record ID #: PR0517849.
Jason reported that no fuel was removed from the boat at the marina. He did not
know where Tow Boat USA will tow the salvaged boat to. He did not have
responsible party (RP) mailing or email addresses. I provided my business card
and asked him to email me the RP information.
Entered Narrative. End
5105.rpt
