Percolation Test Procedure
Live Oak conducted the percolation testing for the borings on October 29, 2021 (Parcel
2) and December 22, 2011 (Parcel 1). Mr. Chesney completed the percolation test on
Parcel 3 on October 12, 2010. Due to the soil types observed, four-hour tests were
selected for Parcels 1 and 2. Water level measurements were taken every 30 minutes
during the four-hour period. The last 30 minutes of each test were observed by Aldara
Salinas or Ted Tasiopoulos, Registered Environmental Health Specialists at the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. Mr. Chesney's test was also
certified by Mr. Tasiopoulos.
An electronic well sounder with a depth accuracy of 1/100th foot was utilized for Live
Oak's water level measurements. The water level was measured against a fixed
reference point on the well casing. Measurements were recorded on the data sheet in
decimal feet. When necessary after measuring the water level, each hole was refilled
with water to a level of approximately six inches above the bottom of the hole.
Percolation Test Results
The completed percolation test forms for Parcels 1 and 2 are included in Appendix 3 of
this report. The forms were signed by Ms. Salinas or Mr. Tasiopoulos and indicate a
percolation rate for each hole based on the final water drop observed. Live Oak does
not have a copy of the original test form for Parcel 3; the permit, however, states, "perc
test this date, shallow test passing rate."
Per San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department's definition, a shallow
percolation test hole has a depth between 18 and 42 inches; a satisfactory percolation
rate for a shallow test is greater than or equal to 1 minute per inch (min/in) but less than
or equal to 60 min/in drop. For the Site to utilize a standard septic system, one
percolation test hole on each proposed parcel must demonstrate a satisfactory
percolation rate.
Details and results of the percolation testing are summarized in the following table.
LOGE 2141 Page 7
