3-4 <br />or currently accept tires. Used and/or new parts utilized for equipment repair/maintenance <br />are stored at the landfill's maintenance yard. All of the equipment at the RRF is dedicated to <br />its own operation. However, if necessary, additional equipment can be obtained in an <br />emergency from tfle--.Forward +1andfill. All inoperable equipment is promptly repaired. Any <br />scrap metal from equipment repair is also salvaged. The RRF is screened from Austin Road on <br />the south and west sides by a 5-foot high vegetated earthen berm. <br />3.1.2.2 Container Cleaning <br />Container cleaning is currently not performed at the RRF. The site does not accept municipal <br />solid waste that attracts vectors. Virtually all of the waste materials received at the RRF (for <br />transfer operations ) are dry. In the event that waste disposal operations are implemented in <br />the future, then any containers utilized will be cleaned on an as needed basis periodical ly. <br />3.1.2.3 Housekeeping <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17416.1, general housekeeping is conducted at the <br />facility to minimize the accumulation of materials (i.e., used parts, inoperable equipment, <br />tires, scrap and similar items) i nherent in the operation of a transfer station . Housekeeping <br />activities are conducted on a continual basis by station personnel. <br />3.1.3 Solid Waste Removal (14 CCR. Section 17410.1 (a)(2)) <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17410.1.Jill(2), residual solid waste at the RRF is <br />removed within 48 hours of receipt and disposed at the Forward Landfill. All unrecyclable <br />residual wastes (residual) are loaded into £.. 4G20-cy bins drop boxes OF transfer trailers and <br />transported to the Forward Landfill for disposal. The empty and full drop boxes are stored on <br />the fleftR.-west side of the RRF building. The drop boxes are away from the RRF operations and <br />storage areas and all landfill operations. <br />3.1.4 Non-Salvageable Items (14 CCR. Section 17408.4) <br />In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17408.4, drugs, cosmetics, foods, beverages, <br />hazardous wastes, poisons, medical wastes, syringes, needles, pesticides and other <br />materials capable of causing public health or safety problems are not will not be received <br />and /or sa lvaged at the RRF unless approved by the LEA. <br />3.1.5 Scavenging and Salvaging (14 CCR. Section 17409.3 and 18221.6 (n)) <br />Scavenging is prohibited at the RRF in accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17409.3(a) and the <br />SWFP . Commercial haulers of non -hazardous solid wastes may be directed to the RRF fef <br />salvaging, volume reduction, and recycling activ ities and to conduct the hazardous waste <br />screening program.
