1
REPORT OF DISPOSAL SITE INFORMATION
Foothill Sanitary Landfill, Inc.
6584 North Waverly Road
Linden, California
Located in Section 12 and North 1/2 of North 1/2
of Section 13, Township 2 North Range 9 East M. D. B. & M.
County of San Joaquin
1. Description of site operation:
The operation is a combination area fill and cut and
fill. The site is located in the foothills. The fill operation
began in a canyon type area with cover material coming from
the area to be filled in the future and the high portions of the
rolling hills adjacent to the fill area. The classification
of the site is Class II . The typical operation cycle is
that refuse from service areas within the County of San
Joaquin enters the site each day. A six inch (6") cover
layer of soil is to be placed on the final lift of refuse
not later than the close of each working day and a cover of
layer of soil compacted to a depth of two feet (21 ) is to
be placed on the final lift of refuse not later than one (1)
week after placement of refuse. All dumping ramps not in
use are to be covered with a six inch (6") cover layer of
soil. Compaction of refuse is done by way of a bulldozer
and trash compacter utilized in the site operation. The
degree of compaction varies from 1, 000 to 1, 300 pounds per
cubic yard of in place density. The refuse dump permit from
the Division of Forestry requires that the active dump area
be broken up into cells no greater than 150 feet in length
by 50 to 80 -feet in breadth and separated by dikes of clean
soil for a minimum of eight feet in width. Each day approximately
660 cubic yards of cover material is required together with
approximately 340 to 510 cubic yards of dike building material.
la. The hours of operation for members of the public are
8 :OO a.m. to 5: 00 p.m. daily except Mondays and except on
January 1, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
day. The franchised refuse collectors from Areas 5, 6 , 7, 8
and 9 of San Joaquin County are permitted to use the site
during the daily hours of operation. The operator of the
transfer station serving refuse service areas 5, 6 , 7, 8 and
9 franchised by the County is permitted to use the site at
all times.
lb. Large bulky items are generally' separated so as to
allow ease of covering and proper and safe handling by the
equipment available on site. There is no separation of
materials for recovery purposes at the present time. For
years past tires and rubble were separately . stockpiled,
said practice has been discontinued.
