The following procedure will be used to remedy a methane surface exceedance as required by
§60.753(d)(4). After each step, the landfill surface will be re -monitored to determine the
effectiveness.
1. LFG extraction wells in the vicinity of the exceedance will be checked to see if LFG flow
can be increased. Re -monitor within ten days.
2. The LFG header will be checked to verify proper vacuum is available at the wells.
3. Additional cover soil will be placed and compacted over the area of emissions.
4. The landfill cover will be moistened and re -compacted.
5. Cracks and fissures may be scarified and re -compacted or grouted.
6. A new LFG extraction well may be installed. The well may be horizontal or vertical
construction.
Foothill Sanitary Landfill Public Works/Sofid Waste
LFG CS Design Plan County of San Joaquin - March 10, 2005
