It is also unclear
why we do not detect combustible gas at SG-1,which is closer to the landfill, although sampling from a
lower depth.
Because the distance from SG-11 to the property boundary is great(approximately 1400 feet), combustible
gas was not detected in any other soil gas probes or in occupied structures, and property immediately
adjacent to the Foothill Landfill is open grazing land, we do not believe that any immediate corrective
action is needed to protect human health and safety. To demonstrate that combustible gas is not leaving
our property,we are planning to install a triple-probe well near the western property boundary, and
re-establishing our monitoring perimeter accordingly. You are also aware of the County's commitment to
install a landfill gas collection system at this site in 2006. Once operating, this system should remove any
potential for migration.
If you have any questions, please call me at extension 8-3066.
Sincerely,
W.
