Pep Boys #710 <br />Introduction <br />Pep Boys #710 is located at is located at 84S E Charter Way Stockton, CA 95206-1621 (Figures 1 <br />and 2). According to the company web site, Pep Boys provides many types of vehicle related sales <br />and services including but not limited to the following: <br />• Car audio <br />• Suspension and ride control <br />• Engine tuning <br />• Exhaust <br />• Battery installation <br />• Belts and hoses <br />• Brake services <br />• Diagnostic and evaluation services <br />• Fluid exchange services <br />• Shocks struts, steering and suspension <br />• Air conditioning systems <br />• Filter replacement <br />• Fuel system cleaning <br />• Original equipment scheduled maintenance <br />• Tires <br />• Parts—engine, cooling system, ignition, steering and suspension, brakes, etc. <br />See photos in Appendix A. <br />In the servicing of vehicles, Pep Boys collects used (waste) oil and used (waste) coolant. Used oil <br />is hazardous substances under California law. The used oil is temporarily stored in the Waste Oil <br />Tank, and used coolant is temporarily stored in the Waste Coolant Tank. The hazardous waste <br />tank system that is the subject of this certification report comprises these two tanks. <br />Pep Boys employees drive customers' vehicles into one of the service bays and where they are <br />raised on lifts. Waste oil and waste coolant are drained from the vehicles into wheeled collection <br />units. This collection unit can collect waste oil from numerous vehicles and are "containers" <br />under the California Health and Safety Code and therefore not art of this certification. When <br />full, the waste oil collection units are brought to the Waste Oil Tank. Air pressure is used to <br />transfer the contents of the unit into the tank. When the tank is full the transporter's truck <br />arrives and connects to the tank. Waste Coolant is handled in a very similar way. The only <br />difference is that the collection unit has an on -board pump used to transfer the coolant. The <br />3 <br />
