The Guide to Potentially Hazardous Material Management <br /> <br />Remember: Documents and Logs <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Weekly Inspection Checklist <br /> <br /> <br />Hazardous Waste Container Management <br /> Bins are kept closed except when adding or removing product <br /> Bins and lids are in good condition <br />o Free of cracks or other structural damage <br />o Plastic bags that contain waste inside the bins are sealed <br />o No standing liquid inside bins <br /> Products are bagged prior to placement into bins <br />o One waste-type per bag <br />o Leaking products are double-bagged. <br /> If material leaking is liquid, absorbent pad is in same bag as damaged <br />product <br /> Spill-control equipment is available <br />o Materials used to clean up a spill (absorbent material and gloves, if used) must <br />be double-bagged along with the product container <br /> The name of the product must be written on the bag and the bag placed <br />into the appropriate hazardous waste bin <br /> Empty bins are actually empty—if a product is put into a bin, that bin must be labelled <br />with the appropriate hazardous-waste category label <br />o For example, if an empty bin is used for the overflow of another hazardous-waste <br />category <br /> For those stores utilizing staging bins behind the counter: <br />o The same requirements hold for staging bins as they are for the hazardous- <br />waste bins – See points 1-3 above <br />o The one exception, however, is that each product must be bagged individually <br />until the waste-type can be determined <br /> <br /> Continued on next page→ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Weekly Inspection required <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />2 © 2019 Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc.
