17 December 2021
Project No. 21-6681

Geology and
Hydrology
Valley Geomorphic Province have not been identified, though are thought to be
igneous or metamorphic in origin.

The subject property and surrounding area lie within the San Joaquin Valley
Groundwater Basin, Eastern San Joaquin Subbasin (5-22.01). This subbasin is bound
on the south, southwest, and west by the Modesto, Delta-Mendota, and Tracy
Subbasins, respectively, and on the northwest and north by the Solano, South
American, and Cosumnes Subbasins. The Solano and South American are subbasins
of the Sacramento Valley Groundwater Basin. The Eastern San Joaquin Subbasin is
drained by the San Joaquin River and several of its major tributaries, namely, the
Stanislaus, and Calaveras, and Mokelumne Rivers. The San Joaquin River flows
northward into the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta and discharges into the San
Francisco Bay.

According to the State of California Department of Water Resources (DWR)
Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Data Viewer, Seasonal Report
for Spring 2021, depth to groundwater at the site is approximately 25 to 30 feet below
surface grade (bsg), and the groundwater flow direction locally appears to be to the
northwest.
Topography The property is located at an elevation of approximately 31 above mean sea level
(MSL) and in an area of low topographic relief. Regional slope of the area is toward
the general west.
Surface Soils EDR provides a report listing dominant soil composition in the general area of the
subject property based on information from the United States Department of
Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service STATSGO (State Soil Geographic Database)
soil maps. Soil surface texture at the subject property consists of soil identified as
DELHI, a loamy sand in the Class A Hydrologic Group which includes high infiltration
rates. Corrosion potential of this soil for uncoated steel is moderate.
Surface Water
Features
A dry slough transects the northern boundary of Parcel 1. The nearest surface water
features in the vicinity of the property is Walthall Slough, approximately 1.8 miles
southwest of the subject property.
Flood Zone The EDR database report shows that Parcel 02 of the subject property is located in a
(0.2%) Annual Chance Flood Zone. This data, available in select counties across the
country, was obtained by EDR from the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) which has maps depicting FEMA-defined zones.
Wetlands The EDR database report shows that the subject property is not located within the
National Wetlands Inventory. This data, available in select counties across the country,
was obtained by EDR from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

4.0. HISTORICAL USE

The history of the subject property from as early as 1914 to present was researched by
reviewing aerial photographs, topographic maps, San Joaquin County Building
Department records and a personal interview. Based on a review of historical records,
the property has been utilized as a residential property and tree grove since at least the
1930’s.

Representative historical documents are included in Appendix C.
